IN-PERSON EVENT – Nature Walk/Hike – Kids grades 3 to 6
October 14 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
Join us for an IN-PERSON event on Wednesday October 14th at 3:00 (please don’t be late because we will be leaving for a nature walk in Soaring Eagle Park)
Masks over the mouth and nose at all times are required and social distancing guidelines must be followed. If you think your child will not be able to keep their mask on for the entirety of the event without reminders, please consider waiting until a later date to come to events.
We will be meeting in the parking lot at the entrance to Soaring Eagle Park (26015 East Main Drive). This will be a small event with a maximum of 4 kids in a walking group with one or two high school leaders. The event should be ABOUT an hour. The main trail is relativly flat with one hill and each way is just over a mile. So it should take under 30 minutes each way. You are welcome to trail behind your child’s walking group, but please refrain from participating in discussions or being part of the group, as our goal is for the highschool leaders to help the kids meet new friends and enjoy some fresh air and a little excercise.
In an effort to continue with our goal of teaching kids about community service we would like each child to CREATE a few handmade notes or cards (3×5 index card size works well) and BRING them to the event. We are collecting these notes / cards for The Giving Hope Project which donates hundreds of lunches and other needed items to people who are unhoused in Seattle. They like to include a short little note in each giveaway.
A note from The Giving Hope Project –
We are very excited to have KidsComingTogether make love notes for us to put in our lunch bags and hygiene kits. We distribute approximately 350 lunch bags and 300 hygiene kits to people who are unhoused each week, in Seattle. We love to have small notes and pictures to put in the bag. It works well if the cards are the size of a 3×5 index card. Saying can be “I care about you” “stay strong “ “stay safe” Any note of encouragement. It is great when the notes are done in bright colors and pictures are also appreciated.
