If you’ve attended a KCT event and thought, “I’d love to be more involved in this,” the Youth Board might be your next step.
Youth Board members do much more than volunteer. They help plan and lead events, create marketing materials, support fundraising and donor outreach, keep projects organized, and help shape what KCT does throughout the year. Along the way, they build practical skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, project management, and problem-solving — the kind of experience that comes from actually doing the work, not just learning about it.
It’s also a chance to become part of a close-knit team of students who care about their community and want to make a difference together. You’ll work with the Youth Executive Board and adult mentors, take on real responsibilities, contribute your own ideas, and have opportunities to grow into larger leadership roles over time.
We’re looking for high school students in grades 9–12 who are dependable, collaborative, willing to communicate, and ready to make a year-long commitment. You don’t have to come in knowing everything. What matters most is that you’re willing to learn, follow through, and be an active part of the team.
Prior participation in KCT events isn’t required, but it is strongly encouraged and is an important part of our selection process. Students who have already spent time at KCT events have a head start: they understand our mission, know what our programs feel like, and have already begun building a connection to the organization.
Applications for the 2026–27 Youth Board are due by 11:59 p.m. on August 19. Selected applicants will be invited to interview on August 31 or September 3.

Building relationships through community service
Kids Coming Together (KCT) is a volunteer-led nonprofit that brings kids and teens together to build friendships and strengthen our community through service. At a time when young people face increasing social isolation, KCT creates safe, welcoming spaces for youth in grades 3–8 to practice social skills, build confidence, and connect with others while giving back. Events are led by high school student volunteers, who gain leadership experience and earn service hours as they guide and mentor younger participants.
